The first ever Leadership Challenge Forum has been terrific. For me, it's been all about the networking: old friends, new friends, time with the experts, time with practitioners…it's all good. It's as though someone's given me a pair of binoculars to look out over a familiar gorgeous vista. The landscape is familiar and beloved, the whole is unchanged, but there is so much that's new. The binoculars give me a chance to look more closely at things that make up this landscape and notice subtleties I might have missed before. The result is feeling connected, energized and deeply appreciative.
As a presenter, I was amazed and excited by the interest in my topic. The feedback made me certain a rich conversation had been started and I can't wait to jump back into it.
As a participant, there has been so much to soak up. All keynotes did what they should: get the brain busy, curious, open. I also loved hearing stories from different organizations like Cessna and Western Union. They were inspiring and thought provoking: "What's next? What's better?" The Experiential Exercises were a hit. We got 6 mini presentations. I kept hearing "I'm going to steal that one!" No stealing necessary. It's all there for the taking. So cool.
We're onto something. Can't wait for next year.

Like Beth and many others, I'm still buzzing from the TLC Forum. While on the treadmill this morning, I prepared for a day back in the office. Reflecting on the Forum, my first thoughts, admittedly, were overwhelming.
What now? Which of the many fantastic ideas should I do first? As a facilitator, consultant, advocate, leader, and learner, how the heck can I carve out 2.7 hours a day to practice The Five Practices?
The "a-ha" moment: I didn't need to add 2.7 hours of practice to my day. I needed to make the most of the time I already spend.
I realized that on a daily basis there are many chances to bring The Five Practices to life, whether through opportunities that happen or ones I create.
Am I making the most of these times? When I practice The Five Practices, am I fully aware and engaged in my actions?
Here's my commitment to pay forward one of the many lessons learned at the Forum:
Each day, I will be present and fully engaged in every opportunity I have to model, inspire, challenge, enable, and encourage.
Thank you, my TLC friends, for a valuable learning and leading experience at the Forum - see you next time!

Wow... what a great conference. I am really excited about the whole concept.
I participated in one of the roundtable discussions about how to measure the effect of leadership -- it was quite interesting. My company specializes in exactly that: surveys that measure and assess a wide range of management and organizational factors. We assess climate, customer satisfaction, culture, employee engagement etc. All of those metrics could easily be correlated to your leadership efforts. Check us out at www.louisallenworldwide.com.
I am sooo loking forward to next year...
Thank you...
